The AWMC is at the leading edge of environmental biotechnology related to water and wastewater management and treatment. We currently have over 50 staff and students based at the University of Queensland's St. Lucia Campus. We integrate the research experience of our staff with new ideas from students and postdoctoral fellows in the interdisciplinary field of biological science and environmental process engineering.
Our excellent international reputation is based on our scientific output, including a large number of international journal publications and conference presentations, together with excellent funding success from the Australian Research Council (20 ARC grants since 1999), Environmental Biotechnology CRC and the industry.
During the last five or six years, over 25 PhD students have graduated and are now building successful careers as researchers, engineers and managers worldwide.
